We have a permit from the state of New Mexico to sell raw cow's milk and goat's milk. Currently, we are milking three G
uernsey cows, and 4 goats (Oberhasli, La Mancha, Nubian and Saanen). They all spend most of their days on pasture eating the grass. We are also planting herbs for them to eat - things like honeysuckle, chamomile, comfrey, feverfew, speedwell. This is only a start, based on the research we've done into healthy herbs for ruminants. Future additions will include roses, sage, willow and quite a few others. We supplement the pastures with hay, and at milking time they get grain. The grain is part of the arrangement they've made with us - grain for milk. It's an arrangement that makes everyone happy. Our girls have come from different places. Their first birthing on our farm is a new experience, since they get to keep their younguns. They have to learn how to be a mama. Once they catch on, it's a joy to watch. Next year, we hope to have second generation younguns from 1 cow and 2 goats. SF Creamy, SF Barli and SF Swanli were all born here and will be bred this fall. Last Activity Sep 2008
